HISTORIC BUILDINGS IN PALMA AND VALLDEMOSSA
In this trip, you will not only visit the most familiar landmark in Palma, but the Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site.
Your driver will pick you up in the City of Palma, at the location you indicate. Then, you will head towards the old city, along the promenade to allow you to enjoy the views and the monuments, such as the City wall, the building of the old fish market, the building of the Consulate of the Sea, etc…
You will visit Palma’s Cathedral “La Seu”, the second largest Gothic Cathedral in Spain. Built in 1230, it is a familiar landmark in Palma. You should spend around 40 minutes for this visit.
Following the Cathedral, you will see the most important streets of the historic center with its old courtyards, as well as the cloister of San Francisco which you maybe will be able to visit. Then, you will wander around the area of the Old Jewish Quarter of Palma. Afterwards, you will go to either the Balearic Coliseum or the Plaza de Toros de Palma.
Later on, you will be driven to Valldemosa, one of the most famous villages in the world, where the Polish composer Frédéric Chopin settled for a winter. You will be able to visit the Royal Carthusian Monastery, the Palace of King Sancho and you will be able to wander along its stone streets and gardens. Do not miss this opportunity to eat a “coca de patata”, as it is a gastronomic symbol of the traditional culture of valldemossa and you will find it in any bakery. Then, you will stop off at the Archduke’s home in Son Marroig, from where you will enjoy the best views of the North of the island.
Following Valldemossa, you will go to the Bellver Castle. It was built in 1300 and you will see the only circular shaped castle in Spain and you will be able to take pictures and enjoy the amazing views of Palma Bay.
At the end of the tour, you will be driven to Palma, at the location that you indicate.
Recommendation: if possible this tour should start at 9:00 a.m.
